[Rules] Magic Empty [Rules] Magic

Magic in Entherium is different than what is often found in other worlds. It does not require you to draw upon a certain amount of energy, whether that energy is chi, focus, mana, prana, magicka, or any other energy form you may have seen to produce an effect. Instead, the level of power you can employ is directly related to your proficiency in a magical skill. Most of these skills will be written in "mancy" form. Examples of this include pyromancy, necromancy, chronomancy, and geomancy.

An important note is that skills similar to "magic", such as bending, are considered the same as their magical equivalent. Therefore, anyone who can create/manipulate fire is considered to have the pyromancy skill, even if that power isn't considered "magical" in nature.

Most magical skills, like those mentioned above, are more or less obvious in what they do and what their applications are. However, some skills are less traditional, and may require more explanation as to what they are, what they do, and what their limits are. This thread will attempt to keep a record of these lesser-known magical skills.

[Rules] Magic Empty Rune Magic

Post by Matthew Gothel 4/16/2015, 2:51 am

Rune magic focuses around 4 "runes" related to the four main elements" Water, Air, Fire, and Earth. These runes, when cast, can create simple effects related to their element, such as a fireball made with a fire rune or a spray of water produced by a water rune. These runes cannot be used to produce more powerful effects attributed to the element; for example, you cannot create a tsunami with a water rune.

However, as you progress beyond Novice, you can "combine" runes to create a more powerful spell. Combining a fire rune and water rune, for instance, can produce a blast of steam. Each rank above Novice allows for 1 more rune to be combined with another, to a max of 4 runes together at Master Rune magic.

Rune magic is more versatile than traditional magical skills, but can also be more unpredictable, even to the user. The key to mastering Rune Magic as a player is to be creative and experiment with the different rune types.
